The Development of the Quality of Life of Construction Company Employees in Bangkok Based on the Principles of the Four Noble Truths of Happiness

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1) to study the development of the quality of life of construction company employees in Bangkok based on the principles of the Four Noble Truths of happiness, 2) to create activities for the development of the quality of life of construction company employees in Bangkok based on the principles of the Four Noble Truths of happiness, and 3) to evaluate the activities for the development of the quality of life of construction company employees in Bangkok based on the principles of the Four Noble Truths of happiness. The researcher employed an action research methodology with 20 construction workers participating in the activities. Research Findings: 1. the study found that safety measures included the preparation of safety equipment for workers, readiness of tools and machinery, and preparation of the work environment. Regarding the four happiness principles of laypeople, they comprised: Atta-sukha: happiness from having wealth, Bhoga-sukha: happiness from spending wealth, Anaṇya-sukha: happiness from being debt-free, and Anavajja-sukha: happiness from work without fault. These principles are suitable for integration into the work of construction workers. 2. The created activities included: Activity Plan 1: Finding Happiness through Dhamma. 3. The evaluation of the activities showed that, overall, they were rated at the highest level, with an average score of 4.54. The highest average score was for usefulness (4.57), followed by appropriateness (4.53), accuracy and coverage (4.52), and feasibility of application (4.51).
