Abstract
This research paper studies the gender role of women in management positions of Islamic private schools in the three southernmost provinces of Thailand by employing concepts of field, capital and habitus of Pierre Bourdieu. In this study, the field of study refers to the private Islamic schools where different kinds of capitals and sources are revealed. Moreover, the habitus of this social group is declared through the exposed, sustained patterns of relations. The data collected comes from the interview which includes reflective processes of female/women in management positions from different generations, education and cultivation. While these women in management positions come from different background, they share similar experiences as ‘women’ in the field, due to the established gender role in the main pattern of relations, and the reality of male domination being the habitus of the field.
