Abstract

Agility in business management has evolved from the high performance enterprise paradigm, with strategic workforce management as a critical component. This approach emphasizes the importance of work value, goal orientation and network communication. However, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) face particular challenges due to resource constraints and labor-intensive processes that require a focus on workforce flexibility to adapt quickly and efficiently to change. In this study, 250 executives from Thai SMEs were surveyed using a structural equation model derived from the literature for analysis. The results show that inadequate network communication is a significant barrier to the implementation of agile human resource management strategies. Furthermore, while recognizing the value of work has a positive impact on workforce agility, the effect is only marginal with a correlation coefficient of only 20 percent, suggesting that there is still significant room for improvement in these areas.
