Analysis of Walailak Journal of Science and Technology indexed in Scopus database between 2012-2020: A Bibliometric Analysis

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the Walailak Journal of Science and Technology (WJST) indexed in the Scopus database between 2012-2020. The sample included articles from the WJST that were published in the Scopus database between 2012 to 2020. Data from the Scopus database and the Scimago Lab should be collected with bibliometric analysisd. Analyze the number of articles, type of article, international collaboration, CiteScore, SCImago Journal Rank (SJR), number of citations by subject area, list of affiliations, list of countries, and funding agencies for publication. According to the findings, there are 755 articles published between 2012-2020 (average 83 articles per year), a total of 721 research articles were published (95.50 percent), the highest international collaboration in 2019 is 16.67 percent (13.85 percent average) in 2018, the journal’s highest CiteScore is 0.8 percentile 53rd (Quartile 2) in 2014, the highest SCImago Journal Rank (SJR) is 0.206 (Quartile 3), the affiliation that published the highest article is Walailak University (11.79 percent), the country that published the highest articles is Thailand (56.16 percent), and the funding agencies that supported the most research is Prince of Songkla University (5.43 percent). The study’s findings revealed that the journal WJST had both quantity and quality. With an increasing number of articles published, this reflects the journal's internationality. The journal publishes articles from diversity affiliations and countries. The journal also has an editorial board from a diversity countries. Based on this information, the journal WJST is the preferred publication venue for researchers all over the world. It can be used to improve Walailak University's academic journals so that they meet international quality standards. The study's findings can be used by Thai academic journals to develop a policy to promote quality development that meets international quality standards.
