A Comparative Study of the Integration of Religious Doctrine for the Development of Young Children in Buddhist School and Catholic Christian School

Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to study the principles of their religion and rules to develop the students' knowledge; and 2) to compare and integrate the teachings for the benefit of elementary students. 3) to compare a difference of these  schools and how their principles help benefit their behavior. In this qualitative research, we collected data through engaging interviews and relevant research. The result shows; Buddhist schools determine to develop students through teachings based on the 5 precepts, meditation, and wisdom. The schools encourage their involvement in Buddhist ceremonies and religious activities to help them find their spiritual path. However, the Christian Catholic schools are indicated to fostering the love of good and humanity, from their family to their society, to generosity with both physically and mentally. The schools play a crucial role in teaching students to live their lives with peace, morality, and ethic throughout their lives. This comparative research unequivocally demonstrates that both Buddhist Way of Life Schools and Christian Catholic Schools have effectively integrated their religious principles into student learning through various class and school activities. Regarding the goal of this integration, Buddhist Way of Life Schools focus on embodying Buddhist principles in daily life, while Christian Catholic Schools emphasize love and generosity among their community.
