The Journal of Man and Society proudly marks its 10th year with Volume 10, Issue 1 (January–June 2024). Throughout the past decade, the journal has remained steadfast in its mission to disseminate new knowledge and to promote academic publication among lecturers, scholars, researchers, students, and interested readers. The journal continues to serve as a platform for both Thai and English articles in the fields of humanities and social sciences, encompassing linguistics, literature, humanities, history, philosophy of knowledge, development studies, and cultural studies.

                   This issue presents nine articles, comprising eight research articles and one academic article, contributed by scholars from various institutions. The topics reflect a rich diversity of perspectives and methodologies across the humanities and social sciences.

                   The research articles in this issue include:

  • Buddhist-Based Parenting Wisdom through Teaching Methods in Samkok (The Romance of the Three Kingdoms) by Chaophraya Phrakhlang (Hon): A Reflection for 21st Century Society, which explores pedagogical wisdom embedded in classical literature and its relevance to modern parenting.

  • Ritual of Long Nang Thiam in Phon Phisai District, Nong Khai Province: Dynamics and Interactions among Deities, Spirits, and Humans, offering an anthropological perspective on ritual practices and spiritual beliefs in contemporary communities.

  • The Use of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) and Activity-Based Learning on the Development of English Vocabulary Learning Ability for Grade 5 Students, demonstrating the effectiveness of interactive methods in enhancing young learners’ language proficiency.

  • A Study of the Identity of Phra Kathoei: A Case Study of Phra Kathoei in Chiang Rai Province, presenting insights into gender, identity, and social representation within local religious contexts.

  • The Roles and Functions of the Firing-the-Sky for Rain Asking Ceremony in Huai Kaeo Subdistrict, Bueng Na Rang District, Phichit Province, which documents cultural practices and examines their social significance.

  • A Study of Social Media Usage Behaviors Affecting the Understanding of Polysemous Words in Thai among Chinese Students Majoring in Thai Language in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China, highlighting cross-cultural linguistic challenges in digital environments.

  • The Development of Main Idea Reading Comprehension Using the KWL Plus Technique for Chinese Students Learning Thai as a Second Language at Chiang Rai Rajabhat University, showing the pedagogical benefits of structured reading strategies for L2 learners.

  • The Development of Malay Grammar Proficiency among Second-Year Students at Yala Rajabhat University: A Focus on Affixes through a Digital Verb-Formation Textbook, which contributes to language pedagogy in the Malay linguistic context.

                   The issue concludes with an academic article:

  • Guidelines for Psychological Healing during COVID-19: A Case Study of Human Instincts in the Novel Buddhasakkarat Atsadang Kap Songcham Khong Maeo Kularb Dam, which reflects on human emotions, trauma, and resilience during crisis through a literary lens.

                   The Editorial Board expresses its sincere gratitude to all contributing authors for their trust and continued support of the journal. We hope that this issue will serve as an inspiring academic space that stimulates critical thinking, fosters intellectual exchange, and advances scholarship in the humanities and social sciences.
