Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Manuscript Preparation

The Journal of Buddhist Education and Research (JBER) acknowledges the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in academic writing. However, the use of AI must comply with principles of academic integrity, transparency, and accountability.

1. General Principles
(1) AI tools may be used as supportive tools for:
- Language editing and grammar checking
- Improving clarity and structure
- Organizing preliminary ideas
(2) AI must not replace human intellectual contribution, critical thinking, data analysis, or scholarly judgment.
(3) Authors remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, and integrity of the manuscript.

2. Restrictions on AI Use
(1) AI must not be used to fabricate data, results, or references.
(2) AI must not generate entire manuscripts or act as an author or co-author.
(3) AI must not be used to bypass proper citation or academic responsibility.
(4) Manuscripts found to misuse AI may be rejected or retracted, even after acceptance.

3. Disclosure of AI Use
Authors must clearly disclose the use of AI tools in the manuscript, for example in the acknowledgements section:
“This manuscript used artificial intelligence tools to assist with language editing and text refinement. The authors are fully responsible for the content.”

4. Ethics and Accountability
(1) AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.
(2) All academic and ethical responsibility lies solely with the authors.
(3) The editorial board reserves the right to assess AI usage in accordance with TCI, Scopus and COPE standards.
