Abstract

The purpose of this research was to study the elements and guidelines of a happy workplace at the Rajamangala University of Technology in Thailand, during an educational disruption. The study was based on documents and empirical data from in-depth interviews with successful Rajamangala University of Technology administrators. The survey was conducted with 20 administrators, and then developed into a questionnaire for assessing the level of organizational happiness, from responses by personnel and administrators at 9 institutions in Thailand. The study used mixed quantitative and qualitative analyses. Data were analyzed by exploratory factor analysis, tested by data triangulation, and a confirmation of the guidelines was performed by focus group discussion. The results indicated 10 elements of a happy workplace at the Rajamangala University of Technology in Thailand: (1) happy heart, (2) happy society, (3) happy money, (4) happy brain, (5) happy family, (6) happy body, (7) happy principles, (8) happy soul, (9) happy relaxation, and (10) happy ecosystem. The results of this research can be used to guide the creation of a happy organization, especially of a Thai higher education institution, during an educational disruption, in order to manage such institutions efficiently and with organizational happiness.
