Coop-Dis-Q: A Technique for Reading Teaching through Team Learning
Main Article Content
Abstract
Reading serves as the fundamental basis for acquiring knowledge and fostering educational growth. The acquisition of this skill is not inherent but rather must be cultivated over time. It is imperative to seek knowledge through external sources. Consequently, the instruction of reading plays a pivotal role in the advancement of human cognition. Educating individuals to attain literacy in reading comprehension entails a meticulous process that necessitates a profound understanding of pedagogical methodologies, particularly those teaching approaches that have been systemically developed. Cooperative Discussion and Questioning (Coop-Dis-Q) strategies are advocated as a method for instructing reading through collaborative efforts. Such an approach presents an intriguing perspective and is poised to facilitate the organization of educational endeavors. The management of learning involves a structured procedure comprising five essential steps: 1) create groups; 2) prepare a set of questions; 3) groups discuss a story and divide questions; 4) triads discuss, answer, and add questions; and 5) triads present and discuss their answers. This sequential learning structure promotes learner engagement through cooperative learning, discussion, and collaborative question-and-answer interactions. Utilizing this pedagogical approach facilitates the enhancement of proficient reading skills and effective learning administration. Such methodology aligns with the objective of fostering learners' competencies in the 21st century, communication competency, collaboration, teamwork, and leadership competency.
