Abstract

The use of applications has increased continuously. Consequently, the demand for application designers has also increased. As a result, teaching in this field is crucial. However, while teaching the Interactive Multimedia course in the Media Design Innovation Program at the Faculty of Communication Arts at Prince of Songkla University, it was found that students often lack guidelines for beginning the design process, take a long time to develop ideas, and lack confidence. Therefore, a systematic teaching method is necessary. This single-group experimental research study has three objectives: 1) developing application logo design skills using the Matrix tool, 2) comparing academic achievement before and after studying, and 3) investigating student satisfaction with using the Matrix. The sample group consisted of 30 second-year students. The research instruments included the Bedno Matrix table, a test, and a satisfaction questionnaire. The results showed that academic achievement was significantly higher after studying at a statistical level of .05, and that students were highly satisfied with using the Matrix tool for application logo design. Matrix tools can effectively be applied to other design-related courses to enhance students' skills and align them with the diverse demands of the design industry.
