A study of the welfare arrangement model of professional musicians in enterprises in the Northeastern region.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to investigate a welfare arrangement model for professional musicians in enterprises in the Northeastern Thailand region. The sample of the research consisted of              100 musicians and senior musicians in the Northeastern of Thailand who were selected 5 musicians from each 20 provinces by using the purposive sampling method.  The research data collected by using a structured interview form and a focus group discussion. The results of the study indicated that a welfare arrangement model for professional musicians in various enterprises in the Northeastern of Thailand were as follows; 1) state welfare (section 40 of social security act) and 2) private sector welfare such as music clubs and music worker unions welfares which contribute to motivation for this job. In the current situation, musicians could registered themselves in section 40 in the social security act which provided 3 choices for insure person; 70 THBs,        100 THBs, and 300 THBs a month respectively. Moreover, musicians in each province established the musician clubs for negotiating state welfare and preventing their benefits, including pretension, healing in case they were insecure from public sectors or their workplaces.
