Abstract

This research aimed to compare students’ global awareness before and after use of the future problem-solving instructional process, with the control group taught using the lecture method, and to study the level of students’ global awareness reached using the future problem-solving instructional process. The research population comprised 80 third-year students majoring in social studies in the Faculty of Education at Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University during the academic year 2023. The actual sample size was 66 students, and using a cluster random sampling method they were divided into an experimental group of 34 students and a control group of 32 students. The research instruments included a lesson plan based on the future problem-solving process, a lesson plan using the lecture method, and an evaluation form for global awareness (reliability coefficient = 0.96). The statistical analysis involved calculating means and standard deviations, and performing dependent and independent samples t-tests at a significance level of .05. The results were as follows: 1) Students’ global awareness after using the future problem-solving instructional process was significantly higher than before at the .05 level. 2) The global awareness of students in the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group at the .05 level. 3) The experimental group demonstrated a high level of global awareness in all dimensions, with the highest mean score in multidisciplinary mastery, followed by open-mindedness, and global problem-solving.
