Designing and Developing a Chatbot to Support Teaching

Abstract

This research aimed to design and develop a chatbot to support teaching and learning in a prototype course and to assess students' satisfaction with its use. The chatbot was developed using the Dialogflow platform and integrated into the LINE application. This chatbot was designed to respond to inquiries and provide information pertaining to the academic courses 000204 Digital Game and 503220 Computer Engineering Drawing. It was designed to respond to students' inquiries and provide information 24 hours a day, enhancing the learning experience by allowing quick and convenient access to course-related information. The satisfaction evaluation focused on three key aspects: content accuracy, usability, and practical application. The results showed that students were highly satisfied with the chatbot, particularly regarding the accuracy and timeliness of the information provided, which received the highest average satisfaction score of 4.23. In terms of usability, students appreciated the chatbot's fast response time, with an average satisfaction score of 4.23. Regarding its practical application in helping students understand the course material, the average satisfaction score was 4.17. In conclusion, the chatbot effectively met students' needs by delivering fast, accurate, and accessible information. Students expressed high satisfaction, indicating that the chatbot is a valuable tool for supporting teaching and learning.
