Development of English Reading Aloud Ability Using Cooperative Learning with STAD Technique for Grade 6 Students

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to 1) develop the instructional plan using cooperative learning with STAD technique with the efficiency criterion of 75/75; 2) investigate the effectiveness index of English reading aloud using cooperative learning with STAD technique; 3) compare the score of pre-test and post-test of English reading aloud abilities between before and after using cooperative learning with STAD technique and 4) study for satisfaction of student who learned though cooperative learning with STAD technique. The samples were students of grade 6 in the 1^st semester of academic year 2021 at Bankumpeeloakajaroensin School received from the cluster random sampling. The instruments used in this research consisted of 1) the instructional plan using cooperative learning with STAD technique; 2) English reading aloud ability test and 3) the questionnaire of student’s satisfaction. The statistics used in data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation and t-test (Dependent Samples). The findings of this research revealed that: 1) The efficiency of instructional plan English reading aloud using cooperative learning with STAD technique was 78.78/80.48 which is higher than the committed standard. 2) The effectiveness index of English reading aloud using cooperative learning STAD technique was 0.5684, or 56.84 percent. 3) English reading aloud ability after learning through the cooperative learning STAD technique revealed that the post-test score was significantly higher than the pre-test score at the level of .05. 4) Students had the satisfaction on learning activities using Cooperative Learning with STAD technique at a high level (= 4.54, S.D. = 0.57)
