PROBLEMS WITH LEGAL DISCUSSIONS ON AMULET PURCHASE

Abstract

          This academic article aims to explore the practice of buying amulets, considering whether it holds legal significance or not. The objective is to provide insights and knowledge to individuals engaged in the amulet industry, commonly referred to as "Sian Phra" or "Amulet players." It is widely recognized that when seeking a specific amulet, individuals often opt for buying from diverse amulet centers. These centers may have dedicated sections for amulet rentals, either within the shop premises or advertised through leaflets and brochures from various amulet stores. These advertisements claim the availability of amulets at various locations, such as Tha Prachan. However, the practice of buying amulets raises the possibility of encountering both authentic and counterfeit items. For those well-versed in amulets, they might acquire the genuine piece they desire upon inspection. On the contrary, individuals lacking amulet expertise or the ability to distinguish real from fake may end up buying a fake amulet. This scenario emerges due to the chance of the amulets unintentionally obtaining counterfeit amulets. Notably, inspecting of amulets along different display panels have become commonplace, and individuals may have become accustomed to such sights. Yet, uncertainty remains regarding the authenticity of these amulets, whether they are indeed the real amulets or not.
