The Effect of Situational Teaching Method on Practical and Application Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Skills for Higher Vocational Nursing Students

Abstract

This research aimed to: 1) compare the practical cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills of nursing students before and after learning to the situational teaching method. and 2) study the application cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills of nursing students after learning to the situational teaching method. The sample group consisted of second-year nursing students in the higher vocational nursing program, Kunming Health Vocational College, Kunming, Yunnan Province, China, in the second semester of the 2025 academic year, totaling 30 students in 3 classes, which were obtained from cluster random sampling. The research was conducted in accordance with standardized execution steps. Research instruments included three parts: 1) The situational teaching plan, 2) The practical cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills test, 3) The application cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills test. The statistics used for data analysis were mean, standard deviation, and t-test dependent, respectively.

The results showed that:

1.The practical cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills of nursing students who received the situational teaching method were significantly higher than those before studying at the .01 level..

2.The application cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills of nursing students who received the situational teaching method were at a high level.
