Abstract

POP! – Based Learning has synthesized and developed learning processes according to the concept of STEM education and STEAM education. POP! – Based Learning has 3 following steps as 1) Presenting challenging situation, 2) Originating design, and 3) Performing presentation to track the development of collaborative problem-solving competencies of high school students. With the following components of collaborative problem-solving competencies: 1) Exploring and understanding, 2) Representing and Formulating, 3) Planning and executing, and 4) Monitoring and reflecting. This research study aims to explore students’ collaborative problem-solving competencies along with their academic achievement in the subject of biological science through POP! based learning. From the research result, it was found that POP! – Based Learning according to the guidelines can help promote collaborative problem-solving abilities as follows: After conducting with POP! – Based Learning, the majority of students in the science-mathematics curriculum were able to demonstrate collaborative problem-solving abilities at a good level as follows: Component 1 (83%) Component 2 (81%) Component 3 (75%) and Component 4 (23%) respectively. Similarly, most students in the general arts curriculum, Chinese language and the general arts curriculum, vocational work was able to collaborate effectively in problem-solving at a moderate level as follows: Component 1 (86%) Component 2 (70%) Component 3 (52%) Component 4 (33%) and Component 5 (22%) respectively.
