The Development of Analytical Thinking Skills on Construction Materials by Using Problem-Based Learning and Collaborative Learningof First Year Professional Certificate Students

Abstract

          This experimental research aimed to: 1) compare the learning outcomes of the course, Construction Materials, before and after using the learning management based on problem-based learning and collaborative learning, and (2) to examine the analytical thinking skills of first-year vocational certificate students after learning management. The sample selected by purposive random sampling consisted of 23 first-year vocational certificate students from the Civil Engineering Department, Sakon Nakhon Technical College in the first semester of the academic year 2023. The research instruments were comprised of 12 learning management plans based on problem-based learning and collaborative learning, the 30-item Learning Outcomes Assessment Form, and the 2-item open-ended Analytical Thinking Skills Assessment Form. The information obtained was analyzed using mean, standard deviation, t-test Dependent sample.
          The results showed that: 1) after learning, the achievement of the student learning by using the learning management based on problem-based learning and collaborative learning was found to be higher than that of the student before learning. The amount of difference was found to be significant at .05., and 2) after learning, the amount of the student analytical thinking skills of the course was found to be at a good level.
