A STUDY THE ADMINISTRATION OF SANGHA IN PRAKHORNCHAI DISTRICT BURIRAM PROVINCE

Abstract

The initial Sangha affairs administration was directly affiliated to the Buddha. TheBuddha himself administrated, governed, and educated his followers. But only in someCases, he permitted the spiritual teachers to do so. Because the main work of thatperiod was focused on propagation of the Buddha’s teachings. The Buddhist monks atthat  time were the homeless ones, traveled to different places to proclaim the Buddhadhamma to the people. They did not stay in any permanent places. They lived their lives By alms collecting. Therefore, the Buddha’s teachings were rapidly spread todifferent places

The Sangha affairs administration in  Prakhonchai district  is  run  respectively  according  to the regional Sanghaadministion of the abbot, the Eccl. Sub-district head, the Eccl. District Officer. Provincial Governor of Buriram province, andtheth Eccl. Regional Governor. Anyhow, an Ecclesiastical administrative officer hasthe power and duty in administioncovering the levels of District, Sup-district, andabbot, His main duty consists of six missnions i.e. ๑) governance such as the project of funeral welfare for the Ecclesiastical administrative officers, etc. ๒) education such asPrariyattidhamma studies both in Dhamma and Pali and and General  education, etc. ๓)educational welfare such as setting up the educational fund, etc ๔) propagation theBuddhist teachings such as training the Buddhist preachers in districts, etc. ๕) publicService such as construction the street within temple, etc. ๖) public welfare such asMaking a pool, construction public library in district, etc.

The result of data analysis was as follows:

          ๑.In the aspect of governance, the Sangha affairs administration inPrakhonchai district was in good performance, but it lacked some level of coorperation,Particularly the  Dhammayuttikaya due to the problems of non-acceptance, too muchindependence, and a less number of temple.

๒. In the aspect of religious studies, the Sanghaaffairs  administration in Prakhonchai district had got help from the Thai Sangha Order, but it in lacked of good Management.

๓.In the aspect of educational welfare, the Sangha affairs administration inPrakhonchai district was in good performance both in terms of subsidy and knowledge Particularly in the border area of Cambodia.

๔.In the aspect of propagation of the Buddhist teachings, the Sangha affairs Administration in Prakhonchai district was in excellent performance particularly the Dhamma lecture lecture on radio broadcasting which directed by the Ecclesiastical DistctOffcer.

๕.In the aspect of public service, the Sangha affairs administration in Prakhonchai district was in a good peformance particularly the electricity and water Supply.

๖.In the aspect of public welfare, the Sangha affairs administration in Prakhonchai district was in good performance.
