SHIVA LING: THE HOLY RELIGIOUS OBJECT OF BRAHMANISM

Abstract

The objective of this academic article is to study the meaning, origin, form, respect, worship, sacrifice, virtue and power of the Shiva Ling, by studying from academic papers and field study. The results of the study show that the Shiva Ling is a religious, Brahmin or Hindu object, also known as the Trimurti. For the model of the Shiva Ling, there are five forms, which of the Shiva Ling are: - (1) round, cylindrical, (2) round or flat, (3) natural stone (4) assuming natural things instead of the Shiva Ling and (5) mixed In Hindu culture. The worship of the Shiva Ling is a normal thing that has been done for thousands of years. Because it is considered as a representative of Shiva and is sacred. For the Shiva Ling worship, the Hindu people will be practiced in 3 times a day viz, morning, lunch and evening in the presence of lingering in the temple, which a Brahmin called Sai We Sa to be the leader in the ceremony. According to the tame of the Hindu people, the worship of the Shiva Ling made of gold, it will make them wealthy. If worshiped with grain rice or cooked rice will make food perfect. The power of the Shiva Ling is much more than the description. This is to ask for progress, fulfillment and request for extraordinary powers from the Shiva Ling as well.
