EFFECTS OF SOCAIL STUDIES LEARNING MANAGEMENT USING THE PREDICT – OBSERVE – EXPLAIN STRATEGIES ON LEARNING ACHIEVEMENT AND CURIOSITY OF UPPER SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

The purposes of this research were to 1) compare the academic achievement on social studies of the upper secondary school students before and after learning management.2) study curiosity of high school students who received social studies learning management by using prediction,observation, and explanation, strategies. and 3) compare curiosity of students the upper secondary before and after received the learning management. The sample consisted of the 40 students Mathayomsuksa 5/4 semester 2 academic year 2020 at Suksanareewittaya School Bangkok and The Bangkok Secondary Education Service Area Office, District 1. The instruments used for this study included 1) lesson plan of political unit by using prediction,observation, and explanation strategies, 2) pre-test and post-test achievement test for learning social studies. And 3) curiosity scale test. The statistics used to analyze the data were mean (X), standard and deviation (S.D.), and Independent T-test.The research findings were summarized as follows : 1. The learning achievement of social studies of Mathayomsuksa 5 students who had learnt social studies by using predict-observe-explain strategies (POE) was significantly higher than before applying the strategies at the .05 level 2. The curiosity of Mathayomsuksa 5 students who had learnt social studies by using predict-observe-explain strategies (POE) at the higher level 3. The curiosity of Mathayomsuksa 5 students who had learnt social studies by using predict-observe-explain strategies (POE) was significantly higher than before applying the strategies at the .05 level
