STRATEGIES FOR DEVELOPING LEARNER’S AMBITION IN PRAKONG SCHOOL UNDER THE OFFICE OF THE BASIC EDUCATION COMMISSION

Abstract

        This research aims to develop desirable characteristics of learners and formulate strategies to develop desirable characteristics of learners in Prakong schools under the Office of the Basic Education Commission. The research was divided into 4 phases i.e. Phase 1 was synthesis of components to develop desirable characteristics of learners ; Phase 2 was the exploring of current and desirable conditions for the development of desirable characteristics of learning ; Phase 3 was the defining strategies for developing in pursuing learning ; And Phase 4 was the  evaluation of the strategy of qualitative research and quantitative research. The population and the sample group were school administrators and teachers in Basic Education institutions. The data collected tools were questionnaires, semi-structured interviews and group discussions from experts. Quantitative data were analyzed by percentage, mean, standard deviation. It was the mixed methodology and required values.The results showed that elements of development of desirable characteristics, pursuing learning of the learners consisted of 5 parts which consisted of development of management quality, teacher quality development, development of learner quality, curriculum quality development and learning management, the development of contextual quality and involvement of the stakeholders. The overall assessment result was at the highest level ( = 4.93 S.D. =.10). From the survey, the overall current condition was moderate ( = 2.77 S.D. =.18). The overall desirable condition was at the highest level in all items ( = 4.69 S.D. =.23). And the need for development of the desirable characteristics of the learners was found that the development of the quality of learners had the highest essential demand value (PNImodified = .73). Analyzing of the internal environment and outside the school and interviews the educational institutions with good results as the best practice was found to have 23 strategies, 54 measures, 54 goals and 54 indicators of success. From the results of the evaluation of the effectiveness of strategies for developing desirable characteristics of learners, it was found that in terms of feasibility benefits to executives benefit to practitioners. And the accuracy and appropriateness of all 23 strategies were at the highest level.
