THE INFLUENCE OF BELIEFS ABOUT HELL AND HEAVEN ON ONE'S WAY OF LIFE BUDDHISTS IN SIKHORAPHUM DISTRICT SURIN PROVINCE

Abstract

This research article has 3 objectives: 1) to study hell and heaven in Theravada Buddhism 2) to study the influence of beliefs about hell and heaven on one's way of life. Buddhists in Sikhoraphum District Surin Province and 3) to analyze the influence of beliefs about hell and heaven on the way of life. Buddhists in Sikhoraphum District Surin Province The research method is qualitative research. Data were collected from documents and interviews with key informants. Descriptive analysis was used.

The results of the study are as follows:-

1. Hell is a place of punishment for evildoers. It is a place without happiness and prosperity. There is only suffering. It is a place to punish animals who do evil after they have left this world. It is the lowest world or realm among all worlds or realms. It is part of the cycle of compassion or the cycle of birth and death. As for the word heaven, it means a world that is excellent and full of the five desires and desires. It is a wonderfully beautiful world. Full of good things and what is merit Heaven is a land of abundance. Happiness is among all beings born in heaven.

Merit or good deeds do not aim at getting to heaven.
