Guidelines for Educational Institution Administration Based on the Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy Under the Khon Kaen Provincial Office of learning Encouragement

Abstract

The purposes of this research were: 1) to study the current state, desirable state, and priority needs of school management based on the Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy for schools under the Khon Kaen Provincial Office of Learning Encouragement; and 2) to develop guidelines for school management based on the Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy for the same organization. The research sample consisted of 297 school administrators and teachers. Additionally, 7 key informants were selected for interviews. The research instruments included a 5-level scale dual-response questionnaire with a Content Validity (IOC) ranging from 0.67 to 1.00. The discrimination power for the current state ranged from 0.45 to 0.81, and for the desirable state from 0.51 to 0.84. The reliability coefficients were 0.95 for the current state and 0.96 for the desirable state. Other instruments included semi-structured interviews and evaluation forms for suitability and feasibility. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and the Modified Priority Needs Index (PNImodified) technique. The research findings were as follows: 1. The overall current state of school management based on the Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy was at a moderate level, while the overall desirable state was at a high level. The overall priority needs index was PNImodified = 0.292. When ranking the needs from highest to lowest, the order was: Budget Administration, followed by Personnel Administration, General Administration, and Academic Administration, respectively. 2. The guidelines for school management based on the Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy consisted of 4 components and 12 guidelines, covering Academic Administration, Budget Administration, Personnel Administration, and General Administration. The results of the suitability and feasibility evaluation were at the high level overall.
