The Ten Objects: Origin of Mahayana

Abstract

The origin of Mahayana Buddhism, in some canons had stated that the sources had come from 1^st and 2^nd (Saïgãti) rehearsal. However, how the accurately original sources of Mahayana Buddhism occurred has still been discussed until now. The main issues of divergence and disagreement among Theravada & Mahayana Buddhism had still existed comprising of 4 dilemmas; namely, issues on Buddha, Bodhisattva, Sunyata and Nirvana. 

                  On the other hand, the disharmony into various nikayas had not mostly been the 10 objects issue, but it had been neither released nor let loose the conviction of the contradictory parties in terms of their disagreement and contradiction. Since the 10 objects had neither been wicked offence, tough wrongdoing, nor moderate evil doing, such objects would have been light penalty. Hence, the heavy transgressions; for instance, “Major Offences”, moderate offences just like (Saïghàdisesa) an offence entailing initial and subsequent meetings of the Sangha, groups of Vajjãputra Bhikkhu had been either still  acceptable or practicable.
