Abstract

        The study about retirement planning behavior of engineers in three age groups or three generations: X, Y, and Z defined the personal factor. This factor affected to the engineering profession and to the retirement planning behavior of engineers in three age groups or three generations: X, Y, and Z, in the issues about individual wealth. This research had the factors of compensation, economy, and economizing attitude so that the engineers in each age group could have the suitable financial plan and could decide to retire with stable assets in their whole life.

         The research result showed the saving behavior of engineers in each age group (Generation X, Y, and Z). It found that the factors which affected to the saving behavior and the financial planning of Generation X in descending order: the economizing attitude, the personal wealth, the compensation, and the economy. For Generation Y, they could be sorted as follows: the economizing attitude, the compensation, the economy, and the personal wealth. For Generation Z, they were the economizing attitude, the personal wealth, the economy, and the compensation. In the financial happiness part of engineers in these three generations (X, Y, and Z), their targets to save money were for the safety in life, livelihood, finance, and health. It showed that engineers in three generations (X, Y, and Z) had different financial plans, so their retirement target could be in various ways.
