Experiences in Applying Artificial Intelligence for Designing Learning Management among Student Teachers during Teaching Practicum: A Case Study of Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University under the Royal Patronage

Abstract

This research aimed to 1) investigate the experiences of applying artificial intelligence (AI) in designing learning management among student teachers during their teaching practicum, and 2) examine guidelines for applying AI in designing learning management among student teachers. The key informants consisted of 10 student teachers and 7 educational experts, selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments included a focus group discussion guide for student teachers and a semi-structured interview protocol for educational experts. Data were analyzed using content analysis. The findings revealed that 1) student teachers had experiences of applying AI in learning management across four aspects: instructional design, instructional media and learning activity design, learning assessment, and preparation of academic reports and educational documents. AI was mainly used as a supportive tool for idea generation, drafting, and structuring work, which enhanced efficiency and organizational quality in task completion. However, its use still required revision and professional judgment by teachers to ensure appropriateness in real classroom contexts. In addition, 2) sixteen guidelines for applying AI in learning management were synthesized. AI played a supportive role in instructional design, media creation, activity development, assessment, and educational documentation. Nevertheless, its application must consider data accuracy, learner appropriateness, and ethical issues in education in a comprehensive manner.
