Abstract

The objectives of this research were to examine the current state, desirable state, and the needs assessment for developing knowledge on the roles of school administrators prior to the professional internship in educational administration for master’s degree students, Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Campus. The methodology employed a quantitative research design. The sample consisted of 78 second-year master’s degree students in Educational Administration Program, Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Campus, during the 2025 academic year, selected through purposive sampling. The research instrument was a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and the Modified Priority Needs Index (PNI _modified). The research findings revealed that the overall current state of knowledge regarding school administrator roles prior to the internship was at a moderate level, while the overall desirable state was at a high level. Regarding the needs assessment for knowledge development, the aspect with the highest priority was Strategic Change Management and Innovation, followed by Professional and Self-Development, Community and Network Management, and School Management, respectively. The aspect with the lowest priority was Academic Administration and Instructional Leadership.
