Research on Yunnan Tropical Rainforest Themes in the Modern Transformation of Contemporary Chinese Flower-and-Bird Painting

Abstract

Within the context of the modern transformation of contemporary Chinese painting, the Yunnan tropical rainforest theme in flower-and-bird painting has become an important site for observing subject expansion and language renewal. This study adopts a literature review approach combined with bibliometric overview and thematic synthesis to map research hotspots, knowledge structures, and developmental trends. It finds that while existing studies are rich in historical narration and stylistic case analysis, they remain weak in clarifying conceptual boundaries, explaining the transformation from local ecological experience to visual language, and theorizing field sketches and interviews. Accordingly, this paper proposes a future research agenda that reorganizes case materials into comparable analytical dimensions and constructs an explanatory chain linking ecological experience, modes of observation, image construction, and brushwork–color relationships, while incorporating institutional and technological factors to enhance explanatory depth.
