Development of a PLEARN-Based Learning Management Model to Promote Thai Folk Dance Skills from the Four Regions among Grade 6 Students

Abstract

This research aimed to: 1) develop a learning management model based on the PLEARN concept to enhance four-region folk dance skills among Grade 6 students according to the 80/80 efficiency criterion; 2) compare students’ four-region folk dance skills before and after learning through the developed model; and 3) study students’ satisfaction with the developed learning management model. This study employed a quasi-experimental research design. The sample consisted of 90 Grade 6 students at Tessaban Wat Khodtimtharam School under Rayong City Municipality, enrolled in the second semester of the 2025 academic year. The sample was obtained through cluster random sampling and divided into three groups: a tryout group, an experimental group, and a control group, with 30 students in each group. The research instruments included the PLEARN-based learning management model, lesson plans, a learning achievement test, a four-region folk dance skills assessment form, a student satisfaction questionnaire, and expert evaluation forms. The data were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation, Index of Item-Objective Congruence, E1/E2 efficiency index, and t-test. The findings revealed that: 1) the developed learning management model consisted of seven steps: Prompt, Learn, Enjoy, Ask, Response, Notice, and Knowledge Sharing, with an efficiency of 87.50/90.00, which was higher than the established criterion; 2) the experimental group’s four-region folk dance skills after learning were significantly higher than before learning at the .01 level; and 3) students’ satisfaction with the learning management model was at the highest level. These findings indicate that the PLEARN-based learning management model effectively promoted joyful learning, active participation, and four-region folk dance skills.
