Abstract

This study aimed to investigate 1) situations and problems relevant to access health service delivery, 2) levels of health seeking behaviors, and 3) factors affecting health seeking behaviors for respiratory systems among adolescents in Rat Niyom subdistrict, Sai Noi district, Nonthaburi province. The study was a mixed method. A qualitative study was initiatively conducted by in-depth interviews from 10 experts relevant in community health system administration. The thematic analysis was consequently addressed in order to extract useful information applied for generating quantitative research design. In this context, 378 samples at Rat Niyom subdistrict were randomly selected by cluster sampling. Descriptive analysis and logistic regression were employed. The qualitative results revealed that self-care, i.e., use of herbal and dietary supplement and use of government healthcare setting services, especially a community hospital and a primary care unit, were committed as their health seeking behaviors. This behavior was induced by an individual’s experiences. The quantitative results consolidated the qualitative findings that the samples performed the highest levels of health seeking behaviors. Interestingly, social history was significantly determined as the critical factor affecting suitable health seeking behaviors at 0.05 Adopting social history into designing policies of community health management was highly recommended according to need and behaviors of targeting people.
