Abstract

The objectives of this study were: 1) to examine theoretical concepts regarding community participation; 2) to study the development of Phra That Na Kham in Na Kham Subdistrict, Kuchinarai District, Kalasin Province; and 3) to analyze community involvement in the development of Phra That Na Kham. Data were collected from the Tipitaka, relevant documents, related research, and in-depth interviews with 15 key informants, including monks and laypersons. The data were analyzed using content analysis and presented descriptively. The findings show that community involvement enables local people to participate in planning, implementation, benefit sharing, monitoring, and evaluation. This process is grounded in voluntariness, equity, transparency, and shared ownership. Community involvement has been concretely manifested through the roles of monks, community leaders, and the public. Development therefore extends beyond restoration of the religious site to preservation of religion and culture and to sustainable religious tourism. Phra That Na Kham serves as a center of faith, identity, and social capital, leading to holistic development characterized by genuine participation and shared ownership.
