THE DEVELOPMENT OF ENGLISH READING COMPREHENSION SKILL BY USING STUDENT TEAMS ACHIEVEMENT DIVISION FOR GRADE 6 STUDENTS

Abstract

          This study aimed to: 1) study the English reading comprehension achievement of Grade-6 students before and after studying by using Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) and; 2) examine the opinion about the development of English reading comprehension by using Student Team Achievement Division (STAD). The sample consisted of purposively selected class of 13 Grade-6 students at Ban Yangtapai School, Wachirabharami district, Phichit province during the second term of the academic year 2020. The research instruments consisted of 1) 14 reading comprehension lesson plans using Student Team Achievement Division (STAD). 2) reading comprehension pre-test and post-test 3) opinion questionnaires about reading comprehension development using student team achievement division (STAD). The data were analyzed using percentage, arithmetic means, standard deviation and t-test dependent.

          The findings revealed that: 1) the students’ English comprehension achievement after studying was significantly higher than that before at the .05 level; and 2) the 92.30% students have developed the English reading comprehension with good attitude.
